Founded in 1987, the Tennis Club has grown to around 150 members today. A social and friendly club, our members are of all standards and ages and we welcome any person who is interested in learning or improving their tennis, meeting new people, keeping fit or simply enjoying the game. We are actively involved in the South Bedfordshire county leagues, with all of our teams tasting success in recent times.
The junior section of the club has grown rapidly under the guidance of our Head Coach, Sara Leavy. There are 7 weekly coaching sessions for all age groups on Wednesdays evenings and Saturdays. Private lessons are also possible by arrangement.
There is also a junior social tennis evening on Wednesday’s 5-7pm led by our coaching assistants under Sara’s supervision.
For senior members social tennis sessions take place on Tuesday 6-8pm and Sunday 10am-12pm. Various coaching sessions are available from “Get Back into…” to improvers and intermediate groups. These take place on Wednesday evenings 7-9pm. Again private lessons are offered by arrangement.
The club organises a selection of social events each year. Recent events include a summer BBQ, a Christmas Curry, quizzes and a games night. And a good workout on the courts is often finished off with some liquid refreshment at a local pub.
We’re an active and sociable club; many of our members have used the tennis club as an opportunity to get to know people in the village. Whether you’d like to join us for play or for the social events – you are welcome !
If you are thinking of joining or have any other questions then please don’t hesitate to get in touch, or simply turn up to one of our social sessions for a free taster (these run on Sunday mornings from 10 a.m. and Tuesday evenings from 6 p.m.). Our subscriptions cover unlimited tennis for a year and are probably less than you would expect. For more information or to download a membership form then please visit the Membership page.
